Hibino Katsuhiko

Born in 1958 in Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture, he completed his graduate studies at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1984 and won the Grand Prize at the Japan Graphic Arts Exhibition in 1982. He received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Art Encouragement Prize (Art Promotion Division) in 2015. He develops art activities that make the most of various regional characteristics. Since 2014, he has supervised the art program "TURN," promoting exchanges between people of different backgrounds. He is also the director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Gifu, the director of the Contemporary Art Museum Kumamoto, and the chairman of the Social Contribution Committee of the Japan Football Association.
When the scientific exploration vessel Tara of the Tara Océan Foundation (Paris, France), founded by agnès.b in 2003, visited Japan for the first time in 2017, he boarded from Fukuoka. He is a board member of Tara Océan Japan, a general incorporated association that uses the power of science and art to visualize the invisible and communicate the importance of ocean conservation.

Sylvain Agostini

Sylvain received his M.S. from the Marseille Marine Center in 2005 and came to Japan in 2005 for his PhD at Shizuoka University, where he studied the ecophysiology of reef-building corals.
After receiving his doctorate in 2009, he held postdoctoral positions at Shizuoka University and the University of the Ryukyus, among others.
His recent research focuses on the effects of climate change, ocean acidification, and other anthropogenic stressors on the ecology and physiology of marine organisms, with a particular focus on corals in the tropics and subtropics. His research approach combines fieldwork and laboratory studies.
He is the scientific coordinator of the Tara Pacific Consortium and a board member of Tara Océan Japan, the Japanese branch of the Tara Océan Foundation, where he is leading the Tara JAMBIO Microplastics Collaborative Study on microplastic pollution in the coastal waters of the Japanese archipelago.

Yumiko Patouillet

The Tara Océan Foundation uses the scientific research vessel, Tara, to sail the world's oceans with scientists to study the effects of climate change and environmental degradation on the oceans and biodiversity, and to communicate the importance of ocean conservation.

In 2020, she launched the Tara JAMBIO Microplastic Joint Research Project to investigate and study the current state of microplastic pollution in Japan's coastal waters, accompanying oceanographic surveys from Hokkaido in the north to Amakusa in Kumamoto Prefecture in the south. She also organizes marine environmental education and awareness events for children and local community members at each research site.

During the research, she had the opportunity to see the Japanese subtitled version of the film "Microplastic Story: Our 2050 Year Plan" and was so impressed with the message that she contacted Director Satake to collaborate on the film.

In her private life, she is the mother of a 16-year-old daughter and is currently seeking a lifestyle with as low an environmental impact as possible, such as starting "worm composting" a year and a half ago.
